Welcome to my portfolio!
Hi, my name is Marike Pinsonneault, and I am originally from Montreal, Canada, but I grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., in Maryland. I have been drawn to photography, filmmaking, and storytelling for as long as I can remember. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I strengthened my passion by taking photography and film classes; however, during this time, I also developed an interest in marine biology and environmental studies. I have worked with organizations such as the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), as a Science Communicator, and Dalhousie University, and the National Student Leadership Conference as a photographer/videographer. My goal is to address/explain the effects of climate change on marine life and our environmental challenges through visual storytelling. I enjoy traveling and documenting new cultures and environments through my camera lens. I am currently based out of Santa Cruz, CA.
